The Quaking Sea

Three broad human cultural groups are present in the Quaking Sea region.

Laghoaut, Keither, Anrihm, Idrissia, Ghassoul, Pytria, Doagh and Laadham are Gossit cities. These cities are separate political entities, but are united by language and culture. Though the gossit cities historically have often warred amongst themselves, they are presently united against the threat of Mallquoth invasion, bringing an uneasy peace to the region.

Dedicated to the goddess Anri, Anrihm is the largest and most advanced of the gossit cities. The tall glass manors of the Anrihm nobility dominate the center of the city, giving way to sprawling labyrinthine streets where all manner of trade can be found. Anrihm is known for three attributes:

Anrihm is known as a center of magical studies. Anrihm’s magical school is the largest and oldest in the quaking sea. The students it turns out go on to work for the Anrihm Diet in prestigious military and civil positions, or travel to other cities where the reputation of their school affords them good opportunities.

Additionally, Anrihm’s excellent location has allowed it to be a hub of trade for hundreds of years.

The constant traffic of foreign students, scholars and merchants has made it one of the most diverse cities in the Quaking Sea. Peoples, ideas, materials and beliefs from dozens of distant lands find their way into the streets of Anrihm.

Catric and Dorit are the northernmost cities of a vast region inhabited by Dalijim peoples. The rivalry between the Dalijim and Gossit peoples, sometime expressed as war, is ancient.

Similarly, Ghena and Aramest are the westernmost cities of the powerful Mallquothi empire.
